A vision board is simply a collection of pictures of everything you want to bring into your life – an apartment, a car, a certain income. But the important thing about a vision board is that it be as specific and vivid as possible. Let’s say you want to earn $120,000 in your first year. Don’t use a sign that reads “$120,000.” Instead use a picture that equates to that income – stacks of hundred dollar bills, bags of gold coins, or anything that evokes an emotional response from you. If you want to own a nice car, be specific – which make, model, color, features? Let’s say you want a 2009 Sapphire Blue Lexus SC430, go to the dealer and get a brochure, or print pictures from the web that show each detail you want – the interior color, the wheels, special features, etc…

Simply making the vision board isn’t enough. Its purpose isn’t to be glanced at, it’s to help you visualize! When you wake up in the morning, take five minutes and, with plenty of emotion and energy, imagine yourself driving your dream car. Sit down on the couch; feel yourself shifting gears, waving to a neighbor, driving through the mountains, taking in the magnificent scenery, feeling the wind through your hair. Imagine in such detail that you can almost believe you’ve already done it!

Similarly, if you want to take a trip to Aspen, post pictures of the resort where you want to stay, and the downhill runs you want to ski. Now imagine yourself out on the mountain, brisk wind on your face, the champaign powder under your feet as you’re gliding downhill. Visualize with a strong emotional conviction. This is real. It is your future!

If you dedicate yourself to visualization and to the actions on your list, eventually you will develop a feeling of certainty about your success! Once that happens, be prepared to wake up each morning excited and energized about the day ahead! Your confidence will soar and you’ll have motivation in spades. You’ll take on each action with the anticipation of success, not the fear of failure! When you engage in life on this level you’ll find that providence will do everything it takes to move you in the direction of your dreams! You have to put in some time and effort to get here, but once you prove your own potential to yourself, the mental shift is incredibly empowering!
